What is SOC for Cybersecurity?

McKonly & Asbury’s March webinar was entitled, “What is SOC for Cybersecurity?” and took place on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The webinar was hosted by Michael Hoffner, Partner and Leader of McKonly & Asbury’s SOC practice, and David Hammarberg, Principal and Leader of McKonly & Asbury’s Cybersecurity practice, and Josh Kowalczyk, Supervisor with McKonly & Asbury.

Organizations are under increasing pressure to demonstrate that they are managing cybersecurity threats and that they have effective processes and controls in place to detect, respond to, mitigate, and recover from breaches and other security events.

This webinar looked at the AICPA’s cybersecurity risk management reporting framework that addresses this market need, assisting organizations as they communicate relevant and useful information about the effectiveness of their cybersecurity risk management programs. The framework is a key component of a new System and Organization Controls (SOC) for Cybersecurity engagement, through which a CPA reports on an organizations’ enterprise-wide cybersecurity risk management program. This information can help senior management, boards of directors, analysts, investors, and business partners gain a better understanding of organizations’ efforts.

During this webinar, attendees learned:

  • What SOC for Cybersecurity is.
  • The benefits of a SOC for Cybersecurity.
  • The end product and the use for a SOC for Cybersecurity report in an organization.

This free, one hour-long webinar took place on Thursday, March 28th at 2:00 p.m. EST. One “A&A” CPE credit was available for this webinar. The level for this CPE was intermediate and there were no prerequisites for this CPE. This program was a live webinar which offered attendees the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the presenters.
